2025 NCAA Softball Recap:
The 2025 NCAA softball season culminated in a thrilling Women's College World Series (WCWS) championship, with the Texas Longhorns defeating the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a decisive Game 3 of the best-of-three series. This victory marked the Longhorns ' first national title in program history.
Women's College World Series finals:
Game 1: Texas defeated Texas Tech, 2-1.
Game 2: Texas Tech defeated Texas, 4-3.
Game 3: Texas defeated Texas Tech, 10-4.
The Longhorns clinched the title with an explosive offensive performance in Game 3, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding a Mia Scott grand slam in the fourth.
Tournament highlights:
Teagan Kavan (Texas) was named the WCWS Most Outstanding Player, setting a new WCWS record with 31.2 innings pitched without allowing an earned run.
Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady had a dominant WCWS until Game 3, leading the nation in wins and ERA coming into the championship series. She earned the 2025 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year award, among others.
Texas Tech made its first WCWS appearance in program history, winning the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles.
The No. 1 overall seed, Texas A&M , was upset in the regional round by Liberty, marking the first time a top seed failed to advance to the Super Regionals since the NCAA tournament began seeding in 2005.

The final 2025 NCAA softball rankings, as determined by the NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll, have been released. Texas finished the season as the top-ranked team, followed by Texas Tech and Oklahoma.
